HISTORY
The Met Gayla is an annual celebration of creativity and inclusivity that began in 2018 as a love letter to the LGBTQIA+ community. While Anna’s Met Gala only honors the elite, the Gayla shines a spotlight on the up-and-coming artists, undiscovered designers, scriptwriters whose work have yet to be seen, and all those who shape the future of our culture. It’s a space where queer artists, aesthetes, and designers come together, free from the constraints of body type or mainstream expectations.
Each year, the Gayla begins with a bold thematic concept, brought to life in a conceptual 3D form. This large-scale idea is transformed into a tangible vignette, creating an immersive experience that reflects the creativity and vision of the community.
The Met Gayla is not just an event; it’s a vibrant, inclusive celebration of the artists and creators who deserve their moment in the spotlight. No Grammy or Emmy is required to be the center of attention.
